is completely crazy to go camping in the cotswolds at the end of october?
my partner and i are considering going camping over the last weekend of october, is it a completely silly idea? x
Not crazy or silly. You’ll just be cold.
The website I found says the temperature in October is 52F(11C)
And if it’s the end of October it would probably be more like November’s temperature of 45F(7C)… Yes, very cold……
Build a BIG camp fire. Have you seen Castaway? Yeah, that big.

No, people go camping in the Amazon rainforest during the rainy season and in the tundra of Canada in the winter. As long as you’re prepared, enjoy!

Not at all. like Lucy says it will be cold but if youre a couple and snuggle up together you’ll be fine. Make sure your bedding is up to it – seriously a quilt of 10 – 13 tog or a real good sleeping bag is fine, and an inflatable bed to stop you loosing heat to the ground.
If you have a camp fire you can warm stones to act as hot water bottles.
Take a flask with you for a warm drink when you wake up.
Your bodies produce least heat when you are asleep so you can feel cold when you wake up. The best way to deal with this is by physical activity. Stay in bed you’ll think of something! Enjoy.

Well if that’s crazy what about my winter Alpine camps and going up on the Andes at 13 000 feet with blizzards when we were trying to cross into Bolivia,,,,eee, that were fun.
Nah, it’s not silly…only if you go without proper stuff and so long as you know something about being on the hills if you’re going upstairs. Nice views up there.
Nice bedroom window from a tent up there too.
What else can you say that about?
The bedroom window is the front door..
Smashin’…don’t even have to get up to cook breakfast. Just reach outside the tent and get the pots on the stove …great fun that.
Trouble with too many people now…no sense of adventure.
Getting up to cook breakfast?…curgh…shove that mate….haha.
Stay in bed and cook it.
Go and have fun, ….but…..stay safe.
British hills are dangerous…more than they look.
There’s a load of links on these to camping Q’ and sites.Blue Eyes isn’t right…be careful on the Cotswolds or anywhere else.
See mine down to where it says 15/20 for safety tips…. the rest is about somewhere else.

Most of mine here is about England…staying hidden, trespasser’s rights, etc.

Tips about staying happy…..the right kind of cool, hehe. Could be very cool at night on the tops. You’ll need proper good sleeping bags, not the caravan type.

BTW that big camp fire suggestion is pretty dumb! Just asking for trouble most places….quite right too. Fires are a big no no in almost all of Engalnd in wild places and on most beaches.

Yes! Even in the ‘Summer’, it can be too cold at night.
