The annual early summer steam gala at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway in 2009 was a little smaller than previous years but still had an excellent line up.
The main guest this year was the heaviest and most maintance Harry Potter film-star, GWR Hall Class number 5972 ‘Olton Hall’ running as ‘Hogwarts Castle’, on loan from West Coast Railways. The red engine was supported by seven other locomotives including visiting Terrier 662 ‘Martello’ (from Bressingham, who was on Brakevan rides at Cheltenham throughout the event) and GWR Small Prairie Tank 5526 from the South Devon, covering auto duites for 5542, and returning resident Austerity number 15.

The usual mix of stock, auto and freight trains ran again during the gala. At Toddington, the first engine to haul a GWSR train was a static display, 0-4-0T ‘Cadbury No.1′. It was a very enjoyable event and nice to meet up with GJDobbzy, GWRDec, Jakeyboygen & theonlyadsrulz.
